Watching the sun go down!!!

Monday morning Peoria greetings to one and all!!!!

One of the most fun things that I enjoy photographing is a nice city skyline at sunset! To me it’s always fun and challenging to try and come up with something that’s different and fresh! When I was down in Corpus Christi, Texas last month, I knew that I was going to try and get a nice skyline shot of the city. Corpus Christi is located on the waterfront of the Gulf of Mexico, so I knew that working the water into the shot was a must!

Here’s my panoramic snap of Corpus Christi, Tx. at night!!!!

I also did a time lapse of the transition from day to night as well and I’ve got a link for that on YouTube

I hope that you have a great week to come and thanks for taking the time to check out my work!!!!

Avery Island, Louisiana

Winter storm Peoria greetings to one and all!!!!

Here it is the end of March and we get another winter storm rolling though P-Town once again!!!! We had better weather in February then we’ve had in March and if I didn’t know better, I’d think the two months have switched places!!!

You’ve probably never heard of Avery Island, but I know that you’ve heard of a very famous product from Avery Island, Tabasco Pepper Sauce! Down in Southern Louisiana is the home of Tabasco at Avery Island. It’s one of those places that you have to make an effort to see becuase it’s not on the road to anywhere! Besides visiting the Tabasco plant for a visit, you can also visit Jungle Gardens which is right next door!

Jungle Gardens is a 170 acre nature park that contains a botanical gardens and also a bird sanctuary. I was there last month and it was just a little bit early for spring to really start blooming, but the Azaleas were all ready rocking and there were about 300 cranes nesting in the sanctuary. As well, there is also a 600 year old Chinese Buddha in the gardens!

If you’re ever down in New Orleans and looking for a nice day trip, Avery Island is a couple of hours down the road and well worth a visit to see the Tabasco factory and Jungle Gardens!!!

Here’s a few of my snaps from my day at Jungle Gardens!

I hope that you have a great week to come and thanks for taking the time to check out my work!!!

Two years in the making!!!

Monday morning Peoria greetings to one and all,

I was just able to finish up a gig that we have been trying to shoot for the last two years. The Peoria Park District wanted to do a shoot showing some of the different zoo animals out in the snow to help promote visiting the Peoria Zoo in the winter time. For this shoot, we needed to have at least a couple of inches of snow to make the shots look good and last winter we never really had enough snow to do the shoot. This winter rolls around and we’re waiting for a good snow and nothing of any amount for the first three months of winter. We had come up to the end of February and still really didn’t have any good snow and we were starting to think that we were going to strike out again this year and would have to wait until next year. All at once last week we got a lot of snow and were able to get the shots that we needed!!!!

Here’s a few of my snaps from a day at the Peoria Zoo!

I’ve also got a Facebook cover shot of Lizzy the Lion as well for those that would like to use it! http://kevinmay.com/kmczoofb.jpg

I hope that you have a great week to come and thanks as always for checking out my work!!!

Arches National Park Time Lapse

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all of my friends around the globe!!!!

If you’ve known me for any amount of time, you know that my favorite national park is Arches in Moab, Utah. I guess that for someone from the Midwest to see those red rocks and the formations is nothing like we have here with our flat landscape and cornfields! There is just something about that area of the country that calls me to come back again and again and explore all the different areas of the park!!!!

I was able to put together a nice time lapse from the park at three different areas within Arches; Devils Garden, Delicate Arch and the La Sal Mountains.

Here’s also a link for the image on the right of some tracks going through the snow at Arches! Your guess is as good as mine as to what kind of animal makes tracks like these!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a great week to come!!!!

If you’ve been there, you might know what I’m talking about. If not, make a road trip there and I guarantee you won”t be disappointed!!!!!

Here’s one of my snaps of Delicate Arch at sundown and to see the La Sal mountains as the background is wonderful!!!

Canyon de Chelly, Arizona

Monday morning Peoria greetings to one and all!!!

I’m back at it here in Peoria this week and it’s good to be back home after having been gone for a couple of weeks!!

One of places that I got to visit for the first time was Canyon de Chelly in Chinle, Arizona. It’s one of those places that if you are going to visit, you’ve got to make a special trip to see it. Chinle, Az. is in the Northwest corner of Arizona and it’s out in the middle of nowhere! I went there to shoot “Spider Rock” and in todays photo, it’s the formation right in Canyon de Chelly. Here’s my photo of Spider Rock.

I also did a time-lapse of Spider Rock as well and this was the longest one that I’ve ever done! Up to this point, the longest time-lapse that I have done was three hours, but for this one, I was there for eight hours. You’ll see eight hours of time compressed down to one minute.

I have also made a couple of desktop images for your computer screen as well of this great image!

Here’s a link of the image for a normal screen. http://kevinmay.com/CdCnormal.jpg

Here’s a link of the image for a wide screen. http://kevinmay.com/CdCHD.jpg

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a great week!!!

Thanksgiving

Monday morning greetings from Las Cruces, N.M.,

For my friends here in the Untied States, this Thursday is Thanksgiving and this week is a short work week for a lot of people. Some people have already traveled this past weekend and more will be taking time off and making a traditional four day weekend into a little more!

I’m down here in Las Cruces this week for my traditional time with my folks and it’s great to be here on many levels. The weather is just about perfect with lots of sun and the temperatures in the 70 degree range. My mom does a turkey and loves to watch all the different Thanksgiving parades on TV and my dad and I usually wash my car and then watch some football games and that’s a lot of fun!!!

I have lots of things to be very thankful for and I’m very blessed that I get to take pictures for a living and my clients see value in what I do!!!!

I hope that you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!

Safe travels to those that will be traveling and have a great week!!!!

Kev

PS, Here’s one of my shots from the drive out here to New Mexico and there’s something about this part of the Untied States that I really connect with!

It’s time to fall back

Monday morning Peoria greetings to one and all!!!!

I always hate it when we turn the clocks back from daylight savings time and there’s just something about it getting dark here in Peoria at 5:00 pm that depresses me! Oh well, I guess I could spend the next six months in Australia and I wouldn’t have to worry about it!!!!

Along with the time change, the trees have pretty much lost their leaves and you know that winter is on the way! Here’s one of the last fall scenes from a road trip to Iowa a couple of weeks ago!!!!

Thanks as always for taking the time to check out my work and I hope that you have a wonderful week!!!!

Hot potato!

Monday morning Peoria greetings to one and all!!!!

One of the two best things that happens here in the Midwest in the fall is the cooler temperatures from summer and the other great thing is IHSA playoff football. These high school kids have all played a season of football and now the best of the best are competing in the playoffs. They will have playoff games for a few more weeks with the championship games being played at the University of Illinois in Champaign on Thanksgiving weekend!

One of the things that I really like is to have a high school football payoff game that’s played on sunny Saturday afternoon and I get to shoot it!!! Brimfield/Elmwood played a St. Thomas Moore from Champaign, Il. on Saturday and I was able to shoot it and I had a blast!!!!

Here’s one of my snaps from the game and indeed that football can be a “Hot Potato”!!!!

I hope that you have a wonderful week to come and thanks as always for checking out my work!!!!
