Industrial Photography and the start of year 18!

Incredibly sunny warm greetings from Pioneer Park!!!!!

Today is the start of year 18 of self-employment, can you believe that? Wow, where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that I was going to Bradley University and also working as an assistant photographer. Well, I’ve got a few more years of work in me, so it’s time to get busy!!!!!

I got to work on a great project last week shooting in three Mueller Company factories down South and the fun thing was that I got to do some “mood” lighting and have a little fun. It’s not always easy making a factory setting look good, but I think that we did it last week!!!!!

Enjoy the week and make it a good one!!!!!

“Phil’s last Run”

Wednesday morning greetings!

Being a photographer is sometimes very “voyeuristic” and I’m involved in people’s lives and moments. I had one of those special moments last Saturday. Phil Hook is a semi-truck driver for Caterpillar (23 years and 4,500,000 miles) and last Saturday he was coming home for the last time before retiring at the end of April. When Phil arrived back at Caterpillar’s Mossville facility, his family, friends and co-workers were there to welcome him back home. It was one of those very special moments that I got to participate in and share with all those people. It’s something that I’ll never forget!

Here’s one of my slideshows from the day and I hope that you enjoy it! “Phil’s last Run”

Thanks as always,

Kev

My first Centerfold!

Monday greetings to all,

No, it’s not what you might be thinking!!!!!!

Readers Digest version; A number of years ago I shot for “Cats” magazine. “Cats” was sold to “Cat Fancy” magazine seven or so years ago and “Cat Fancy” bought all the content of “Cats” (stories, photography, etc.). I’ve not shot for “Cat Fancy” specifically, but from time to time my old photos from the “Cats” days appear in “Cat Fancy”. I’ve never had one of my photos appear as the “centerfold” before, but now I can’t say that any more! It’s in the May issue (ironic isn’t it) of “Cat Fancy” and it’s on the newsstands now, so you might see it at the stores!!!!

Thanks as always and have a great week!!!!

It’s time to get back to work this week, so I will!!!!! I had a great time in New Mexico last week and it was great getting out and enjoying some warm weather for a change! I’m all good when the temperature is in the mid 70’s and the sun is out, so last week I was very happy!

Here’s one more New Mexico image that I really liked!!!!!

Thanks as always and have a great week!!!!!

Organ Mountain, N.M.

New Mexico greetings,

I was fortunate to have a great day yesterday to get out for a little hike in the Organ Mountains outside of Las Cruces, N.M. and as you can see from the photo, it was nice!!!!!! This shot was inspired by the Ansel Adams exhibit that I saw last month at Lakeview Museum. Ansel Adams is considered by many to be the father of American nature photography and I’ve always admired his work and one day hope to walk in his shoes!

Thanks to all and have a great weekend!!!!

100 Grand 2/26/07

Monday morning greetings to all!

That’s right, a Steinway 7′ grand piano is around $100,000.00 while the full blow 9′ concert grand Steinway comes in at a whopping 150k (who knew pianos could cost so much)! Last week, WEEK-TV Productions rented my studio for a T.V. commercial for Horine’s Pianos Plus in Bloomington. For the T.V. commercial, they brought in a 7′ Steinway grand piano into the studio and my jaw dropped when I saw that puppy! Wow!!!!! The craftsmanship that goes into something that nice is completely amazing!!!!

I did the lighting for the spot (which is something different for me and fun to do as well) and then before they came to pick the Steinway up, I shot a couple of snaps for myself! As you can see from the results, when you start with something that looks so good, you get pretty pictures!!!!!!!!

Thanks as always and have a great week!!!!!
