Rain and a 427 Shelby Cobra

Rainy Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

I was supposed to be shooting farming stuff this week and we got spanked again by the rain and bad weather here in Central Illinois! You’d think that it was March instead of November out there! Oh well!

We did have a 427 Shelby Cobra in the studio last week, so I guess that makes up for the disappointment of this week!

If you’re traveling this coming weekend for the Thanksgiving week, have safe travels and make it back home in one piece!

Thanks as always and have a great week!!!!!!

PIA

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all!

We’ve finally been getting some great weather in Central Illinois the past week and I’ve been out shooting a lot of harvesting stuff with the farmers! I was also able to get out and get a really nice shot of the city of Peoria as well. Here’s my snap of Peoria and the riverfront from the Bob Michael Bridge on the left to the Murray-Baker Bridge on the right.

I hope that you have a great week to come and thanks for checking out my work!

The most depressing day of the year!

Cloudy Monday morning Peoria greetings to all!

There’s not too much in life that depresses me, but when we turn the clocks back from daylight saving time, it kills me! Yesterday I’m at home watching NFL football and Nascar and life couldn’t be better! Since we turned the clocks back yesterday, here’s the sun going down at 4:30 pm and by a little after 5:00 pm, it’s pretty well dark! I hate that! Like a migrating bird, I think I’m going to head down to the Southern Hemisphere for their summer!!!!!!

Besides turning back the clock, the weather (rain) has been killing my farming and harvesting shoots, so that means more football (yea)! The IHSA play-offs started Saturday and I was out shooting a game between Washington H.S. and Rich East H.S. (Park Forrest, Il.) and it was a great day to be outside! The game wasn’t even close though with Washington winning 42-0, but I did manage to get a few good snaps!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and have a great week!!!!!

Rain and High School Football

Rainy Peoria Monday morning greetings to all!

All this rain that we’re having in Central Illinois over the past few weeks is spanking me on a couple of farm shoots that we are trying to get in before the end of the year! Other then the ducks, I can’t think of anyone else that’s too happy about this!

I was over in Washington, Illinois on Saturday morning shooting some freshman high school football and it was fun to see the kids out there slopping around in all the mud! I’m sure the moms were going to love washing these uniforms!!!!

Here’s a quick snap of Washington’s Austin Reel (No. 31) scoring a touchdown!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and try to have a dry week!!!!!

Fall is in the air!

Sunny Peoria Monday morning greetings to all!

Yes, fall is indeed in the air in Peoria! It’s probably my favorite time of year and Sunday had to be the perfect day. Sun, blue skies and temps in the mid 50’s! Nice! I was out at Detweiller Park and was able to capture a little of the color. The leaves are starting to turn and should be at peak in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully we’ll get another nice day like Sunday!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and have a great week!!!!

Harvesting time!

Cloudy Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

I was over in Emmetsburg, Iowa last week shooting some harvesting and despite some bad weather, we were still able to get a few shots of the guys doing their thing. I asked one on the farmers why we were having to unload corn from the combine every two passes of the field and with a big smile he said, “That’s what happens when you getting 200 bushel acres!” For non-farmers like you and I, 200 bushel corn is very good and makes a farmer very happy (and profitable)!

Here’s a quick snap from last week and you can see that everything came together for this shot!

Have a great week and thanks as always for checking out my work!

Fun with UTV’s!

Sunny Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

I had one of those shoots last week that was a blast! Sure we busted our butts and worked a lot of hours, but we had a fun shoot! I was up in Wisconsin shooting Utility Vehicles (UTV for short) and we had these everywhere from farming applications to hunting to factories. For this shot that I’m sending today, I told our model to drive like a “bat of of hell” and she did! I wanted to give a sensation of speed and motion to the shot and I think that we got what we were after!

Let’s all have a great week and thanks as always for checking out my work!

Simulator

Sunny Monday morning greetings to all!

Having loved and played pinball and video games about all my life, we had the ultimate video game here in the studio last week! It’s actually a simulator that’s used for training machine operators and it’s probably the ultimate video game on steroids! The simulators and the software are made right here in Central Illinois at a company called Simformation/CSE Software and that’s very cool!

The client wanted to shoot these simulators all set up and I suggested we do some quick time lapse photography of the pieces being assembled so that they can use it on the web site.

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a great week!!!!

Wildlife Prairie Park

Foggy Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

I was out at Wildlife Prairie Park on Saturday with the Peoria Flickr group for the September photo walk. The animals were a little sleepy when we were out there and I wasn’t getting the images I had hoped for, so I switched gears from trying the photograph the animals to finding other things that I could shoot. Here’s a sample of some of my snaps from Saturday.

Thanks as always for checking out my snaps and I hope that you have a great week!

August Road Trip Snaps!

Sunny Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

I had quite a little road trip before Labor Day weekend and it was great! I was swamped this summer with work (I’m not complaining at all) and one of the things that I didn’t have time to do was shoot some photography for myself and I really need to do that from time to time to keep my creative batteries recharged. This photo-safari was all about photography and not about visiting friends along the way. In 18 days that I was gone from Peoria, I saw 16 states and logged 5381 miles in the car and I had a blast!

I’ve put together a little pdf with some of the snaps along the way. Here’s a link for the pdf http://kevinmay.com/westtripkmc2009.pdf

Thanks as always for checking out my snaps and I hope that you have a great week!
