Bellevue Iowa and the Mississippi River!

ъглови леглаMonday Peoria greetings to all!

I was up in Iowa and Wisconsin shooting last week and snagged this snap of Bellevue, Iowa and the Mississippi River. The colors of autumn this year in the Midwest have been a little disappointing, but sometimes that’s the case and this year is just one of those years!!! We’ve seen the leaves turning and the colors have been very muted compared to years gone by. As you know, I really love intense and vibrant colors and to not have that this year is a downer!!!!!! Oh well, maybe next year!!!!!!!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a wonderful week to come as always!!!!!!!

Tanners Orchard

Monday morning greetings to all!

Here in Central Illinois, we all know that the good days of fall are slipping away and the winter months are just down the road!!!!! We’ve got to take advantage of the nice weather and that’s exactly what I did last Friday afternoon. I hadn’t been out to Tanners Orchard in a few years and it was a sunny day and the temps were in the low 70’s, so it was a perfect day to get out and enjoy the nice weather!!!!! If you’re not here in the Peoria area, I’m sure that you’ve got a local orchard like Tanners and it’s indeed one of the best places in the fall season! You can smell all the goodies in the bakery and the cider is flowing and the Cider Doughnuts are to die for!!!!!!

If you haven’t had the chance to get out and check it out, this week could be the perfect one to do so!!!! Here are some of my snaps from the day and you can see that with the sun and blue skies, I was in hog heaven!!!!!!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and seeing what wacky adventures that I’ve been up too!!!!! I hope that you have a great week as always!!!!!

An Ireland Slideshow

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all!

I’m rocking and rolling as always and I’ve put together a slideshow with some of my images from my trip to Ireland a week ago. You’ll see the first part of the slideshow are images from the trip up to Belfast from Dublin and then the rest of the slideshow are from a day and a half walking around Dublin. Getting to spend a little time here really makes me want to visit again at some point in the future and I know that I will!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and have a great week!!!!

Dublin and breaking even!

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all!

I just flew in from Dublin last night and man are my arms tired!!! Sure it’s a bad joke, but what the heck!

I was over in Dublin last week for a quick gig and I sure had a great time there! The people were very nice and the Guinness was like mothers milk! !!!! I snagged this snap in Dublin on Friday night and the whole day was pretty darn perfect. The sun was out most of the day and the city sure takes on a different feel then when it’s gray and rainy. Here’s my snap of the Samuel Beckett Bridge along the river Liffey and the riverfront of the city.

Breaking even!!! Man, that is a very wonderful feeling. To make a long story short, last year (2009) the goal was to break even as a business. I was able to do it, but it came down to December and a last minute job. This year (2010) the goal has been once again to break even and I’m happy to report that it happened at the first of October! Trust me, the economy still isn’t out of the doldrums yet, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! There are still too many people out of work and the recovery isn’t happening fast enough for those people! My heart goes out to them!!!!!!

OK, the goal next year is to break even and hopefully it will happen before October! I’ll let you know!!!!!! Thanks to all of my wonderful clients that made this happen for me, I sure am very appreciative of it!!!!!!!

Have a great week and it’s time for me to get on another plane this morning and head to Atlanta for a quick one day shoot!

Alfalfa

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all,

There’s a whole world of business that we never know about or hear about unless we’re in that specific business.

I was up in LaCrosse, Wi. for a shoot with Forage Genetics and this is one of those companies that you’ve probably never heard of unless you’re in the Alfalfa business. These people are the cat’s meow when it comes to genetics and Alfalfa!!! We were able to spend the day with them and to see what all goes on at a place like this is one of the best perks of my job. There are a lot of incredibly smart people that work at FG and as I told someone that day, “There’s a lot of big thinking going on here”!!!! Maybe some of those smarts could rub off on me!!!!!!!!

We had a great shoot and here’s some of the snaps from that day!!!!!!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a great week!!!!!!

City of Rocks State Park, N.M.

Monday morning Peoria greetings to all!!!!

One of the things that I like to do when I’m out visiting my folks in Southern New Mexico is to get out everyday and shoot some personal photography for myself! I’m having to go a little further and further from Las Cruces to find new places and this past week I found a new one that I’ll be visiting more now that I know that it’s there. City of Rocks State Park is a very interesting place and you have to seek it out, because it’s not on the way to anywhere! In some ways it reminds me of Ayres Rock in Australia because it’s this rock formation among the grass lands where nothing else is like that.

Here’s one of my patented “stitch” shots that is comprised of 62 individual shots combined to make one giant panoramic snap!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have a great week to come!!!!!

Hatch Chile Festival

Labor Day Monday morning Las Cruces New Mexico greetings to all,

I’ve been out here visiting my folks in past years, but never gone to the Hatch Chile Festival. This time I made the trip up the road to Hatch, N.M. to check it out! The smell of roasting chiles was in the air and there were lots of people taking in the food and beverages. It’s a good time and I highly recommend it if you’re ever in Southern New Mexico for Labor Day weekend!

Thanks as always for checking out my snaps and I hope that you have a great rest of the week!

Run Blago Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunny Ft. Wayne, Indiana greetings to all,

For my friends outside of the U.S., I have to apologize for this promo since you probably won’t know who this guy is!

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was convinced on one felony count out of 24 counts against him last week. A hung jury on the other 23 counts and it sounds like they are going to retry him on the other counts. Run Rod Run, they are gunning for you!!!!!!!

If this all stands, it makes Blago the fourth of the last seven Illinois governors sent to prison! The only state that even comes close to Illinois in giving us a run for our money with having the most corrupt politicians is Louisiana and I think they they are a distant second!

Here’s the story behind the promo, back in 2005, I got a call from the Governor’s re-election campaign that he’ll be running in Peoria’s annual Steamboat Race. They told me that they wanted some shots of the Governor running in the race and then afterwards meeting the constituents. They also told me that I can’t tell a soul about him in the race because of security. I’m good with that because they are paying me!

The morning of the race, I meet with the Governor’s press people and they get me all set up with his security detail and tell me that they (his security) are going to take me around the race course so I can get some different photos of the Governor. The Governor shows up about two minutes before the race with pretty heavy security. He starts the race and I’m off in a blacked out Chevy Suburban with his security people. We blow through every security check point and I can tell you that’s a very cool feeling. I have a security guy with me and he’s on the radio and knows exactly where the Governor is on the course and let’s me know when he’s coming. We end up hitting about five different spots on the course and then they bring me back for the photo of the Governor crossing the finish line! After that, the Governor cools down and meets with all of the runners and people there at the event. I grab lots of photos and then we are all wisked away from the event back to the hotel!

Here’s a couple of quick thoughts from that day five years ago:

1) Governor Blagojevich is an incredibly charismatic person and I can see why people are attracted to him and want to be around him. He can “take over” a room, just by his presence! He seemed very genuine the whole time I was with him and indeed seemed like a good guy.

2) Hanging with heavy duty security is very cool and it’s something that until you’ve experienced it, you’ll never understand! Imagine the level of security for the President! Wow!!!!!!

Time to get to work, but I hope that you have a very wonderful week!!!!!!!
