Dubai

Monday morning greetings from Cape Town, South Africa!

I’m out on the road and was shooting in Dubai this past week! This was my second trip there and I really like the city, but not in July!!!! We were there for four days and the coolest day with the heat index was 115 and on the first morning in the port city of Fujairah, it was well north of 125 and that’s getting to be dangerously hot!!!! Despite that, we were able to get a number of great shots and this is one of them! We wanted to get a night shot of the city and try something different, so we went and shot all the buildings along Sheikh Zayed Road. If you look on the right side of the image, you’ll see the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa!

It’s time for me to get busy, we start shooting in Cape Town in a couple of hours!!!

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I’ll have more to share next week!!!

Lions, Tigers and Alligators? Oh My!

Monday morning greetings from back in Peoria!

I was down in S. Florida on a shoot last week and was able to spend a little time after the shoot doing some nature photography. I was in Everglades National Park and along with a lot of swamps and grasslands, I met a few new friends. I was driving along one of the roads and saw an alligator in the water and wanted to get a quick photo of him (or her, how do you tell?). I was standing on the bank of the river and this alligator is about 20 ft. from me and that was close enough. Then I start to notice another one coming towards me and then another and then another. There ended up being five alligators right in my general vicinity by the time it was all said and done. I think that they were lining up for “feeding time at the zoo” and I was the snack! It’s one thing to see wild animals at the zoo, but completely another in the wild. I have to tell you that it’s a little bit unnerving to stand that close to something that could chomp you down in a couple of bites!!!!!!

It was great being down there and fun as you can imagine!!!!

Time to get to work, have a great week as always!!!!

Organ Mountain, N.M.

New Mexico greetings,

I was fortunate to have a great day yesterday to get out for a little hike in the Organ Mountains outside of Las Cruces, N.M. and as you can see from the photo, it was nice!!!!!! This shot was inspired by the Ansel Adams exhibit that I saw last month at Lakeview Museum. Ansel Adams is considered by many to be the father of American nature photography and I’ve always admired his work and one day hope to walk in his shoes!

Thanks to all and have a great weekend!!!!

100 Grand 2/26/07

Monday morning greetings to all!

That’s right, a Steinway 7′ grand piano is around $100,000.00 while the full blow 9′ concert grand Steinway comes in at a whopping 150k (who knew pianos could cost so much)! Last week, WEEK-TV Productions rented my studio for a T.V. commercial for Horine’s Pianos Plus in Bloomington. For the T.V. commercial, they brought in a 7′ Steinway grand piano into the studio and my jaw dropped when I saw that puppy! Wow!!!!! The craftsmanship that goes into something that nice is completely amazing!!!!

I did the lighting for the spot (which is something different for me and fun to do as well) and then before they came to pick the Steinway up, I shot a couple of snaps for myself! As you can see from the results, when you start with something that looks so good, you get pretty pictures!!!!!!!!

Thanks as always and have a great week!!!!!
