Free energy in South Carolina!

26 02 2009

Sunny Monday morning greetings!

On my shoot down in South Carolina two weeks ago,  one of the locations that we shot at was a landfill (yes,  I do get around)!  One of the very cool things about doing this shoot is seeing how smart people are taking advantage of a free energy source that most of us would never dream of.  In the case of this landfill, as the garbage decomposes,  methane gas is created and in the past,  the landfill would simply burn off the methane to reduce the explosion hazard for the trapped gas inside the landfill.  Now, landfills are piping that methane gas to small set-ups like the one that I shot in this photo.  As you look at the photo,  the methane gas comes into the hut on the right,  excess methane is burned off and the rest is piped into the two large brown enclosures that you see on the left.  Inside these enclosues are two very large engines that are being powered by the methane gas.  The engines produce electricty and that energy is fed into the electrical grid that we all use.  The landfill produces methane for 30 to 40 years depending on the size of the landfill, so it’s a win /win for everyone involved!!!!!  This technolgoy is very “green” and methane is an incredibly clean fuel source!

Thanks for checking this out as always and I hope that you have a great week to come!!!!

Smokey Mountain National Park

16 02 2009

Sunny Peoria Monday morning greetings to all!

One of the things that I really love in life is traveling and when I get to do it for a shoot, it’s always fun! On my way down to South Carolina for a shoot last week, I was able to drive through Smokey Mountain National Park in Tennessee. Although the leaves aren’t on the trees yet, it’s a still a very beautiful area with incredible views. While I was there, I found this little creek in the mountains and it was so nice to see something green. Those of us that live in cooler climates can really appreciate seeing something green after a long hard winter!

Thanks as always and I hope that you have a great week!!!!!

“Top of the morning to you!”

Foggy Peoria Monday morning greetings to all,

This year is going to be a very wacky year for business with the economy and things are “topsy turvy” to say the least. January’s are traditionally very busy for me and February’s are very slow. Of course this year, January was painfully sloooooooooooooooooooow and tomorrow I leave for a shoot in South Carolina, go figure! I have a good feeling that the year is going to be very slow, but we’ll just have to see what happens!

We’re already shooting some shots for St. Patrick’s Day coming up in another 5 weeks, so here’s one of the snaps from the shoot to warm you up!

Thanks as always for checking out my photos and have a great week!!!!

Post Super Bowl Sunday greetings to all,

I hope that you survived all the food and adult beverages if you watched the big game yesterday! Wow, what a game it was!!!! If you love football, we’ve been very fortunate to have two great SB’s these past couple of years! That’s the way the game should be played!!!!!

I’ve put together one of my slideshows with some of the different things that I shot last year! It’s fun to look back and see all the different paces and things that I saw and I hope you like it as well.

Thanks as always for checking out my work and I hope that you have an outstanding week!!!!!
